Thickening of flotation tailings with a multiple increase in productivity

NPO Passat will supply 15-meter-diameter lamella thickeners for EuroChem's Usolskiy potash plant. The thickeners are designed to reduce the liquid phase content of flotation tailings before dewatering them in vacuum filters for two new process sections of the plant. The thickeners will provide the client with a mass concentration of suspended particles in the thickener drain of no more than 250 mg/dm3 with a mass ratio of liquid to solid phase (L:T) in the thickener sands of no more than 1.7. The thickeners will be completed with an aerator, pump park, flocculators, automation system.

The technology proposed by NPO "Passat" will allow to reduce the equipment fleet by several times: 2 lamella thickeners by NPO "Passat" will become an alternative to 4 radial thickeners of similar size. Earlier, the same client decided to apply the same high-performance solution when selecting sludge thickeners by NPO "Passat", which will provide a 3-fold increase in the specific productivity of the equipment.

Lamella thickeners by Passat NPO are a modern technological solution that allows increasing the investment efficiency of processing plants and chemical production facilities due to a multiple increase in productivity compared to the traditional method of thickening and clarification in radial thickeners. Thanks to this solution our customers not only reduce the building area, but also reduce the number of process pipelines, shut-off and regulating valves, automation and control equipment, pumping equipment, auxiliary and load-bearing steel structures, heated and ventilated volume of the production building or the volume of thermal insulation in case of outdoor equipment. The use of lamella thickeners also reduces the load and the required number of operating personnel, consumption of reagents, electricity consumption, operating costs for maintenance of the equipment fleet.

*EuroChem-Usolsk Potash Plant is a project of EuroChem Group in the Perm region of the Russian Federation to develop a potash base at the Verkhnekamsk potash deposit. Once the project is commissioned and reaches full capacity, it will produce up to 2.4 million tons of potash per year. Upon completion of the second stage of the project, the total capacity will be over 3.5 million tons per year.
