The implementation of new technologies into the ore processing is always associated with the risk of errors during the transition from laboratory experiments and theoretical calculations to hardware implementation. The presence of references in other ores processing or even similar raw materials, but at a different mineral deposit, often can not be a sufficient reason for the processing plant to adopt a new technological solution to improve the efficiency of the process.
In order to solve this engineering problem, Passat offers its customers the services of pilot testing on its own mobile units of lamella thickener and ejector flotation machine. Pilot units represent the minimum industrial size of the lamella thickener and ejector flotation machine for testing in the conditions of operating production. The equipment is delivered to the customer as a complete set in sea containers, and tests are conducted by Passat engineers together with the process personnel of the concentrator.

At the moment NPO "Passat" is starting the next technological tests of the pilot plant of lamella thickener on copper concentrate of Kolckaya Mining and Metallurgical Company (Monchegorsk) and pilot installation of ejector flotation at Solnechnaya Processing Plant "Rusolovo" (Khabarovsk region). The main objective of pilot tests is to determine the possibility of using the new equipment at a specific process operation, obtaining technical and economic indicators to assess the investment effect of their implementation.

During testing of the thin layer thickening technology at the pilot installation of NPO Passat the following are determined: real specific loads, product incrustation on lamellae, tendency to foaming, thickener operation modes.

During pilot tests on the flotation installation of NPO "Passat" are determined: the content of valuable components in the froth and chamber flotation products, specific load on the installation, reagent mode, optimal density of feeding, technological parameters of the ejector flotation machine.

Constant decrease of ore raw material parameters, involvement in development of hard-to-enrich minerals require intensification of processing, increase of processing volumes and number of apparatuses. Introduction of modern technologies of thickening in a thin layer and ejector flotation by the clients of NPO "Passat" ensured productivity growth, reduction of capital and operating costs. One of the examples of increased investment efficiency is the use by Petrikovsky Mining and Processing Plant of only 4 units of high-performance plate thickeners and one reserve thickener for emergency shutdown of the plant (pictured) instead of the originally planned 20 radial thickeners of various diameters. The economic effect of this reduction of the equipment fleet is obvious.
