At the manufacturing plant of Passat Research and Production Association Passat, the acceptance phase for a large-scale lamella thickener was successfully completed by representatives of the customer, Uralkali PJSC. Specialists from the processing plant thoroughly checked the completeness, manufacturing quality, and compliance of the equipment with design requirements prior to shipment.
As part of the contract for the technical modernization of the sylvinite processing plant, NPO Passat is supplying a high-capacity lamella thickener with a diameter of 15 meters. The equipment is designed to process up to 1,600 m3/h of hot saturated brine with a temperature of up to 97°C.
The lamella thickener is manufactured to withstand the aggressive operating environment: the design incorporates titanium, high-alloy stainless steels of grades 1.4571 and 1.4462, as well as low-alloy steel with a protective vinyl ester coating. Delivery is provided as a complete package—including process pumps, control valves, piping, and a modern automation system with proprietary software.
Key Advantages of the New Technology
The implementation of thin-layer thickening will enable the company to:
increase the specific load per unit of built-up area by 4.5 times;
significantly reduce capital costs compared to traditional 25-meter-diameter Dorr-type radial thickeners;
reduce the footprint, the scope of construction and installation work, and the amount of auxiliary equipment;
reduce operating costs, including depreciation, maintenance, and energy consumption.
